halixis governance

Governance that meets the AI challenge.

AI is creating new opportunities for organisations while challenging traditional approaches to governance. Its growing presence, capability and influence bring new questions about how AI is employed, how it changes, what it produces and who it affects. Governance needs to enable organisations to embrace those opportunities while employing AI responsibly and with confidence.

VISIBILITY
AI can be embedded, third-party, individually adopted and difficult to see.
CHANGE
AI capability, algorithms, models, uses and context can change.
OUTPUTS
AI can produce errors, inaccuracies, bias and unexpected results.
IMPACT
AI can influence decisions and affect people, work, services and outcomes.
GOVERNANCE
Relevant laws, regulation, standards and expectations can be distributed and evolving.

connected governance

AI governance must reconcile three dynamic realities.

Effective AI governance cannot be separated from what an organisation wants to achieve with AI, the context in which it operates, or the external governance environment that shapes its obligations and expectations. Governance needs to continuously reconcile these dynamic realities so that it remains contextual, proportionate and appropriate to the organisation and how it employs AI.

AI LANDSCAPE & AMBITION
What are we doing with AI — and where do we want to go?
ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT
Who are we — and what matters to us?
EXTERNAL GOVERNANCE ENVIRONMENT
What externally shapes and informs us?
AI GOVERNANCE

halixis governance foundation

Built on a broad foundation of governance intelligence.

The HALIXIS Governance Engine has been developed, tested and challenged with reference to a broad range of Australian and international governance sources, including law and regulation, standards, frameworks, principles, policy and guidance. HALIXIS recognises that these sources differ in authority, purpose and applicability — and that what is relevant depends on the organisation, its AI activity and the environment in which it operates.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
· ISO/IEC 42001
· Associated AI governance & management standards
FRAMEWORKS & PRINCIPLES
· OECD AI Principles & governance material
· NIST AI Risk Management Framework
REGULATORY & GOVERNANCE ENVIRONMENTS

AUSTRALIAN AI GOVERNANCE ENVIRONMENT
Australia's AI governance environment is distributed across multiple sources of law, regulation, policy, standards, guidance and other governance expectations.

australian ai governance

Governing AI in Australia means navigating a distributed and evolving environment.

Australia's AI governance does not sit within a single law, regulator, standard or framework. Organisations already operate within existing legal and regulatory requirements that may apply to their employment of AI, while AI-specific policy, guidance, standards and regulatory approaches continue to develop. What is relevant — and what it requires of governance — depends on the organisation, its AI activity and its circumstances.

HALIXIS is designed to capture relevant requirements and governance expectations as they emerge and connect them to the organisation's governance of AI.

halixis CONTINUOUS GOVERNANCE INTELLIGENCE

Designed to be challenged by change — not overtaken by it.

HALIXIS governance intelligence is designed to keep pace with change across the external governance environment. Developments in law, regulation, standards, frameworks, policy, guidance and other relevant governance sources are continually brought into view so their relevance and potential significance can be assessed in context.

Relevant developments are incorporated into HALIXIS governance intelligence and connected to the organisational governance they may inform. Material developments are also tested against the Governance Engine itself — challenging whether its existing architecture remains sufficient or whether controlled change is warranted.

Where the Governance Engine already provides the governance capability required, change in the external environment does not automatically create a new Engine requirement. Where a genuine governance gap is established, the Engine is evolved through controlled change. This enables HALIXIS to keep strengthening its governance foundations without allowing every new instrument, recommendation or emerging expectation to indiscriminately reshape the architecture.

living governance

Active governance designed to stay relevant and reliable.

Living Governance keeps governance connected to the organisation, its AI landscape and ambition, and its changing external governance environment. As those realities evolve, HALIXIS enables governance to remain relevant to what the organisation needs and reliable as an operating organisational capability — continually informed, understood, challenged and improved over time.

Across the HALIXIS Ecosystem, five connected solutions establish, operate, understand, inform and assure that governance throughout its life.

active · relevant · reliable
Move forward with AI. Govern with confidence.
